Hyderabad: The State government was soon coming up with a comprehensive policy for the orphan children, said Women and Child Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod here on Sunday amid a protest for a while from the local leaders for ignoring protocol.
Speaking after flagging off bala rakshak child response vehicles in connection with the children’s day here, the Minister said necessary steps were being taken to cover all the orphan children including those kids who lost their parents to Covid-19 virus in the upcoming policy, which will be a role model for entire country.
She complimented Anganwadi workers for their role in helping Covid-19 patients across the State. Listing out a series of initiatives taken for the welfare of women since 2014, she said the State government was according top priority for women’s welfare.
According to officials, one bala rakshak child response vehicle was allotted to each district to rush to areas to help the children in need or to foil child marriages in villages immediately after receiving a call on childline number 1098.
The vehicles were purchased with the assistance of various stakeholders under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity. Earlier, officials either used their own vehicles or hired a private vehicle to visit a village after getting a call.
“We have now solved this long-pending problem,” an official said. Meanwhile, a few local leaders assembled at the venue and registered their protest for ignoring protocol. However, officials later intervened and pacified them.
Earlier in the day, the Minister along with Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav took part in the children’s day celebrations organized at Ravindra Bharathi here.
