Hyderabad: In the early hours of Sunday, there was a musical sweetness in the air at the Buddha Statue in Hussain Sagar Lake. About 230-plus music lovers from the city gathered around for a 70-minute first-of-its-kind Sitar recital by Ramprapanna Bhattacharya accompanied by Thakur Harikit Singh on Tabla.
These two performers began the concert with the Raag Ahir Bhairav and ended the soulful rendition with Raag Magdham Bhairavi. Music lovers from not just the city but also from neighbouring States who happened to visit the city, attended the novel concert that was held overlooking Hyderabad’s iconic monument. People from all walks of life and different age groups turned up for the event.
The music lovers were taken in boats to the Buddha Statue. Telangana IT Department Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan also attended the concert and said that it was an experience that cannot be described. “It created beautiful moments for all of us. From parks, the morning concert has moved to a historical monument. I have witnessed hundreds of concerts and nothing had created such a memorable moment as this. I hope this tradition will continue here,” he said.
The concert was organised by Tatva Arts and it plans to conduct ‘The Music Unlock Series’ once a month for one year in association with the Department of Language and Culture, Telangana.
