Concluding day of International Kite Festival in Hyderabad draws huge crowds

Hyderabad: The concluding day of the International Kite and Sweets Festival at Parade Grounds in the city saw the venue getting abuzz with enthusiasm, fun and frolic on Wednesday.
Large crowds gathered with small and big kites, most with unique cuts and designs. Age was not a barrier as youngsters to the seniors, the kite flying enthusiasts remained busy through the afternoon, studying the wind direction and tackling their kites in the air.
The skies were filled with the kites with long tails and myriad colours and designs of the ‘patangs’. Several women kite flyers too joined and fun filled contests were held and loud cheer went up whenever a kite got cut and drifted with the wind.
Several participants from other countries, from France to Canada, and from different Indian states were present. According to the event organisers, the kite festival had participants from 19 different nations flying in with their kites and threads.
It was not just the kite flying but the three-day event also attracted large number of families with its sweets festival offering a wide array of mouth watering sweets and savouries. Around 750 women participants from 28 states had lined up home prepared regional and traditional delights.
