Hyderabad: Schedule Castes Development Minister Koppula Eshwar said Covid tests should be conducted for persons with symptoms and others and ensure timely treatment to such people.

On Monday, the Minister held a virtual conference with officials from Jagitial on steps being taken to contain the spread of the virus. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said officials should trace people, who tested positive for Covid and constantly monitor the treatment facilities being offered to them and their recovery.

Since the farming sector is exempted from lockdown, he wanted officials to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience.

In tune with the number of tests, more isolation centres should be set up. Apart from treatment, focus should be on offering quality and nutritious food to those who tested positive for the virus, he said.

“People should wear double masks while stepping out into the market for purchasing vegetables and other essential commodities. Permission should be given to set up retail outlets temporarily as a means to avoid gathering at conventional markets” said Eshwar.

Later, the Minister spoke to the 16 Victoria Memorial Home students, who tested positive for Covid, at Saroornagar through virtual conference. The Minister directed the principal to offer nutritious food, fruits and vegetables to the students in addition to ensuring quality treatment to the students.

He specifically asked the school staff to regularly check the saturation levels and temperature of the students. In case of any abnormalities, they should be immediately shifted to hospitals, he said.
