Hyderabad: Telangana BJP Affairs in-charge Tarun Chugh here on Friday said the Congress chapter was closed in Telangana and the BJP was the only alternative to the ruling TRS in the State.

In a chit-chat with mediapersons, Chugh, who came to the city to attend party’s two-day State executive committee meeting, said the BJP would win 80 seats in Telangana if Assembly polls are conducted any time.

“More than two dozen leaders from TRS and Congress were in touch with us to join BJP,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar underlined the importance of recognising the sacrifices made by many leaders to strengthen the party in all fronts. In spite of receiving threats from CPI (Maoist), several leaders continued to work for the development of the party, he said.

Senior leaders said the party would discuss in detail various issues confronting the people in the State. The hard work made during the by-election in Huzurabad Assembly constituency resulting in the victory of the party candidate Eatala Rajender also came up for discussion.

The crucial paddy procurement issue was also discussed during which the leaders expressed their opinions. They also discussed about the candidates from other parties who are willing to join the BJP without any conditions.

“We will get more clarity about these leaders after Assembly elections in five States,” a leader said.
