Hyderabad: BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind on Tuesday said the Congress had become a party of jokers these days in the State.

Referring to remarks made by Congress leaders against the BJP, he wondered whether the Congress party still existed in the State. Interacting with media persons here, he refuted the allegations that the BJP was behind the suspension of Dalit Bandhu scheme in the poll-bound Huzurabad constituency.

Noting that, in fact, it was the BJP which made a Dalit the President of India, he said the Central government gave MUDRA loans of Rs 39,000 crore to 46.26 lakh people mostly SCs and STs.

The Central government has strengthened the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act by incorporating necessary amendments to it, he said.

The Congress was responsible for sending Dr BR Ambedkar into depression, and fielded candidates against him when he contested elections twice as an independent candidate. However, the Central government has recognised his services and installed his statue in Parliament, Arvind said.

At another press conference, BJP senior leader and former MP G Vivek Venkataswamy denied reports that he was joining another national party. “Why will I join another party? What is the necessity? I will strive to make BJP stronger in the State,” he clarified.
