Congress activists attack sarpanch-elect candidate in Peddapalli
Sarpanch-elect Ambothu Ravi Kumar was allegedly attacked by Congress activists in Anthergaon mandal of Peddapalli district while thanking voters after his victory. Police registered a case and launched an investigation following protests by supporters.
PEDDAPALLI: Sarpanch-elect Ambothu Ravi Kumar was reportedly attacked by Congress activists in Anthergaon mandal on Monday night.
Ravi Kumar had contested the Anthergaon sarpanch post as an independent candidate and won the seat in the second phase of Gram Panchayat elections held on Sunday.
On Monday night, Ravi Kumar visited the village to thank voters for electing him, going door to door along with his supporters. While they were moving through the village, some Congress activists allegedly attacked them.
Following the incident, Ravi Kumar and his followers staged a protest in the village at around 11 pm, demanding action against the accused. Based on a complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
