Congress aspirant attempts self-immolation in Suryapet
Tension gripped Suryapet’s 25th ward after a Congress leader allegedly attempted self-immolation, accusing party leaders of denying him the B Form to contest municipal elections and favouring another candidate. Supporters intervened in time, preventing any injuries.
Nalgonda: Tension prevailed in the 25th ward of Suryapet on Monday after a Congress leader attempted self-immolation, alleging that he was being denied the B Form to contest the municipal elections.
Kodi Shiva Yadav, who was aspiring to contest the Suryapet municipal elections, alleged that party leaders were favouring the candidature of Ramesh Reddy. Protesting what he termed as injustice, Shiva Yadav, along with other party workers, staged a protest in the town on Monday.
Amid the protest, he attempted self-immolation by pouring petrol on himself. However, his followers immediately thwarted the attempt, according to reports.
