Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy and Tourism Minister V Srinivas Goud blamed Congress for the backwardness of erstwhile Mahabubnagar district. They accused the Telangana Congress leaders of supporting the Andhra leadership even though the latter brought sufferings to people of Telangana and dared them to show a Congress-ruled State which was better than Telangana.

Speaking to mediapersons at TRS Legislative Party office here on Wednesday, Niranjan Reddy said the credit for completing the pending projects in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district and providing irrigation water to farmers, goes to the TRS government. He said Congress leaders had no moral right to speak about the development of Palamur region as they did not build any projects on Krishna River during their decades of rule.

“During the Congress regime, the irrigation water was supplied only to one lakh acres as against 60 lakh acres in erstwhile Mahabubnagar district. It took nearly 36 years for the Congress governments to complete Jurala project which provides 6 tmc water. But the TRS government completed Tummilla scheme within nine months and supplying 11 tmc,” he said.

He pointed out that TPCC president A Revanth Reddy who was then a TDP leader, blamed the Congress for destroying Palamur area. But Revanth was now trying to blame the TRS for the wrongs done by the Congress in the past, he said.

Tourism Minister Srinivas Goud said the TRS government had implemented all its promises made so far, and it would do justice to the unemployed youth soon. He reminded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had already announced in the Assembly plans to fill 80,000 vacancies in different departments. The government will also release annual job calendar shortly. He stated that due to proactive measures taken by the TRS government, about 15 lakh jobs were created in the private sector by attracting new investments.

Government Whip Guvvala Balaraju and Nagarkurnool MP P Ramulu said the Opposition parties were creating unnecessary ruckus to gain media footage and political mileage. They predicted that Revanth Reddy would end up behind bars for his blackmail politics. They advised the Congress leaders not to test their patience by passing derogatory remarks or making baseless arguments.
