Sangareddy: Congress leaders and cadres allegedly attacked BRS workers on Tuesday night when the latter tried to catch Congress workers who were reportedly distributing cash to lure voters in a village. The incident occurred hours before the third phase of polling at Jukal Thanda in Narayankhed mandal.

The Congress activists also allegedly damaged two cars belonging to BRS cadres. After coming to know about the cash distribution, BRS cadres rushed to the spot, following which Congress cadres attacked them indiscriminately with sticks.

BRS workers Ravi Nayak, Maruthi Nayak, Ramulu Maharaj, Lakshmibai, Raju, Lakshman Rao and Devi Singh sustained serious bleeding injuries in the attack. The condition of three of them is said to be critical. All the injured were rushed to the Narayankhed hospital for treatment.

Former Narayankhed MLA and senior BRS leader M Bhupal Reddy visited the village and condemned the attack. He accused the Congress party of resorting to violence fearing defeat in the elections and demanded that the police act transparently in dealing with the entire episode.

The BRS leader urged the police to register attempted murder cases against those involved in the attack. Assuring BRS cadres of all support, Reddy warned that Congress cadres would face a similar situation after the BRS comes to power.
