Congress conducting Caste Census only for political gain not for BC welfare, say BJP MLA

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Maheshwar Reddy criticized the Congress Party for failing to fulfill any of the 21 promises made to the BC community in Kamareddy during the assembly elections. He stated, "We are not opposed to the Caste Census, but we strongly object to Congress using it for political gain. The Caste Census is being conducted solely for political advantage and nothing more," he alleged.

Hyderabad: BJP Legislative Party Leader A Maheshwar Reddy alleged that the State government was conducting Caste Census to divert the attention of Backward Classes communities from the promises made to them by the Congress party during the assembly polls. He demanded the government to release a white paper on the benefits the BCs would gain through the Caste Census.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Maheshwar Reddy said the Congress Party during assembly polls made 21 promises in its BC declaration in Kamareddy, but so far it had not fulfilled a single promise made to the community. “We are not against Caste Census, but the way Congress is trying to use it for political gain we have serious objections to it. Caste Census is only being done for political gain and nothing else,”he alleged.

Coming down heavily on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the BJP MLA said if the Chief Minister was so concerned about BCs welfare he should provide 42 percent reservation to BCs in education and job. “If you are sincere, you should implement 42 percent reservation. CM has given only two ministerial posts to BCs instead of 42 percent. You implement the 21 promises made to BCs and then conduct Caste Census,”he said, adding that the main aim of the Congress behind conducting Caste Census was to gain advantage in the upcoming local body polls.
