Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao lambasted the Congress government over its double standards and selective action against illegal structures near water bodies in Hyderabad. He said the government was favouring the rich, but using bulldozers against the poor.
Reacting to the demolition of huts in Guttala Begumpet area of Hyderabad by HYDRAA authorities, Rama Rao said the government was turning a blind eye to illegal constructions by the powerful while targeting the poor. Pointing out that Revanth Reddy was constructing a palace by occupying Reddykunta in Kodangal, he said the Chief Minister’s brother Tirupati Reddy had built a house within the full tank level of Durgam Cheruvu tank.
The Chief Minister and HYDRAA also remained silent when the State’s Revenue Minister, the Chief Whip and Congress leaders like KVP Ramachandra Rao constructed their palaces and guest houses by occupying tanks or in lands with the buffer zones of water bodies, he said.
“Builders can also construct apartments in Musi river bed by paying you bribes. But you demolish the homes of the poor without any humanity or regard for the stay orders from the High Court against such demolitions,” he said.
