Siddipet: Dubbak MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy said the Congress government was feigning ignorance even though farmers had repeatedly requested the government to dig canals to supply irrigation water to all spots in Dubbak constituency.

The MLA visited several agriculture fields, where crops withered due to lack of water, in his constituency on Monday. Interacting with the farmers, Reddy said he had urged the government to complete the land acquisitions for canals and distributary canals under Mallanna Sagar and Kondapochamma Sagar to provide irrigation water to 1.20 lakh acres. However, the government did not even take a single step towards achieving that so far.

The MLA said there were weeds all over the canals already dug during the BRS rule and the farmers were desilting at their expense. The BRS government had built multiple reservoirs in Siddipet district under Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS), but the Congress, which had to complete the canal works, had ignored them. Reddy said he had taken up the issue with Ministers Konda Surekha, Seethakka, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, N Uttam Kumar Reddy and others, but to no avail.

He warned that the BRS would stage a massive protest with thousands of farmers. The BRS MLA toured Achamayapally, Arepally, Potharam, Gambirpur, Ragothampally and other villages, where farmers aired their struggles.
