Khammam: BRS leaders in the district have accused the Congress government of deceiving unemployed youth in Telangana with false promises.

Former Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar, MLC Tata Madhusudhan, former MP Nama Nageswara Rao, and party leaders Lingala Kamal Raju, Gundala Krishna, Bachu Vijay Kumar and others on Sunday visited Gaddam Venu Kumar, who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Khammam after attempting suicide, and enquired about his health condition.

It may be recalled that Venu Kumar, an MSc graduate, allegedly consumed rat poison along with sleeping pills in an attempt to end his life on Saturday near Kotha Lakshmipuram village in Mudigonda mandal of the district, reportedly distressed over the Congress government’s failure to release the Group examinations notification.

Speaking to the media, Ajay Kumar said the Congress party, which had promised to release a job calendar and issue regular job notifications, failed to fulfil those promises after coming to power. As a result, unemployed youth in the State were left deeply disappointed and their future was being jeopardised.

Lashing out at the government, MLC Madhusudhan said Venu Kumar’s suicide attempt showed how the Congress party, which came to power by making what he described as deceptive promises, was now betraying people from all walks of life.

“Venu Kumar expressed deep anguish, stating that in the last elections he had travelled from Hyderabad to cast his vote, along with his family members, for Vikramarka, only to be betrayed by the government,” the MLC said.

The youth’s family lives in a rented house as it does not own a house. Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy should explain the criteria for allocating houses to the poor and why the government failed to allot an Indiramma house to the poor BC family, he said.

The BRS leaders asserted that the party would always stand by the unemployed in resolving their issues and would continue its fight to secure their legitimate rights, while urging unemployed youth not to take any extreme steps.
