Khammam: The State government has been making false claims on waiver of crop loan up to Rs 2 lakh as many farmers were yet to get their loans waived, alleged Telangana State Rythu Sangham president B Hemanth Rao.

He said of the 50 lakh farmers in the State, loans of only 50 percent farmers were waived. Many of those who availed loans below Rs 2 lakh were denied loan waiver stating different reasons. A dharna was staged here on Monday following a state-wide call given by the sangham.

Speaking on the occasion, Hemanth Rao stated that the government announced that in the fourth phase crop loans worth Rs 3000 crore would be waived but amount was not yet credited into the bank accounts of the farmers.

On the other hand, the government has been delaying implementing Rythu Bharosa by setting deadline after deadline. The government which said Rythu Bharosa would be implemented in November, then in December was now saying that it would implement the scheme after the Sankranti festival, the sangham leader noted.

Hemanth Rao alleged that the government officials were acting negligently in paddy and cotton procurement. He demanded the Centre to stop using teargas shells and lathi charging of farmers who were protesting near New Delhi.

He demanded the State government to extend the Rs 12, 000 financial assistance announced for the poor landless labourers should be extended to every eligible poor. CPI leader Mohammed Moulana, the sangham leaders M Chinna Venkat Reddy, P Sudhakar, V Bhasker and others were present.
