Hyderabad: The Congress government is drawing flak for omitting revolutionary singer Balladeer Gaddar’s photo in the invite for the awards ceremony named in his honour. The Telangana Gaddar Film Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held at Hitex Exhibition Centre on Saturday.
In its invite to the guests, the Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC) had incorporated the photographs of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy along with the Corporation chairman and film producer Raju. It also comprised the logos of the State government, the TFDC and even the “Telangana Rising 2047”, but no photograph of Gaddar could be found.
Further, Gaddar’s photograph was also omitted from the award which is being awarded in his memory. Several netizens criticised the government for what termed as “its gross negligence”, and termed it as a dishonour to Gaddar. BRS MLC K Kavitha condemned the Congress government for omitting the revolutionary singer’s photograph from the invitation for the film awards named after him. Terming it a grave insult, she questioned how a government that frequently invokes Gaddar’s name failed to acknowledge him visually in the event’s official invite. She demanded that Gaddar be duly honoured and that his photo be prominently displayed at the award distribution ceremony.
