Hyderabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Monday slammed Congress leaders especially TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Congress Legislative Party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for their obstructive politics.
“The Congress leaders who made all attempts to hinder construction of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme are now trying to obstruct developmental and employment-generating projects like Hyderabad Pharma City. The Congress leaders even tried to obstruct TRS government’s efforts to supplying drinking water to every household by writing letters to financial institutions against lending loans to HUDCO,” he said, adding that people will not tolerate those who are trying to obstruct development.
Harish Rao was speaking after welcoming Congress leader Maddula Nageshwar Reddy into the TRS fold at Telangana Bhavan here. There is a tremendous increase in support for TRS in Dubbak constituency ahead of the by-election indicated by the huge influx of leaders and cadre from Congress and BJP into the ruling party, and Nageshwar Reddy is the latest. He contested the 2018 Assembly elections from Dubbak constituency on a Congress ticket and secured second position behind TRS candidate late Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy.
Ramalinga Reddy’s death recently necessitated the bypoll in the constitutency.
Harish Rao formally inducted Nageshwar Rao into the TRS fold along with the latter’s aides. Medak MP K Prabhakar Reddy, MLA Bhupal Reddy, MLC M Sreenivas Reddy and other leaders attended.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister advised the Congress leadership to introspect as to why their leaders and cadres were leaving their party. He wondered how Uttam Kumar Reddy, who could not get his party candidate elected in Huzurnagar bypoll, was dreaming about winning Dubbak by-election. He dared both the Congress and BJP leaders to list out at least one promise that they had delivered to the people and stated that the TRS was ready to list out at least 100 promises which were fullfilled.
