Siddipet: Group politics within the Congress in Gajwel took a sharp turn after a case under the SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act was registered against District Congress Committee president and former MLA Tumukunta Narsa Reddy, following a complaint by the party’s SC Cell district president Kommu Vijay Kumar.
The incident occurred during a ration card distribution programme held in Gajwel on Sunday, where Labour Minister G Vivek Venkatswamy was the chief guest. A scuffle broke out between supporters of Narsa Reddy and his rival faction during the event. Narsa Reddy was reportedly seen pushing Vijay Kumar aside when the latter attempted to greet the minister on his arrival.
Vijay Kumar lodged a complaint with the Gajwel police the same day. Though the case was registered on Sunday itself, police reportedly did not make the development public until Tuesday.
Dalit organisations held a press conference in Gajwel on Tuesday demanding the arrest of Narsa Reddy. They alleged that he had abused Vijay Kumar using casteist language.
