Hyderabad: Announcing publicly that the Congress and the AIMIM were now partners, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy stressed that elections were done with and politics was over.

The Congress government was joining hands with the AIMIM for Hyderabad’s development, he claimed, stating that when elections arrive, politics would take over but now the focus was only on development. He was speaking after declaring open the Aramgarh flyover here on Monday.

“If need be, I will fight with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and join hands with Asaduddin Owaisi for Hyderabad’s development. Irrespective of whom I meet and speak, everything will be centred on development,” Revanth Reddy said and announced that the Aramgarh flyover would be named after former Prime Minister late Manmohan Singh.

The Chief Minister said like the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge, a second cable bridge was coming up over Mir Alam tank. Similarly, the foundation for Osmania General Hospital’s new building would be laid in a week, he said.

A meeting with AIMIM MLAs, MLCs and old city leaders would be convened on January 11 or 12 at the Secretariat to discuss development plans and requirement of funds.

Earlier, Hyderabad MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi appreciated the Chief Minister for remembering his Cherlapally jailmate Nagayya and meeting him on the New Year. “No double meaning intended, but politicians should go to jail. Only then will they understand the people’s pain and suffering,” he said.

“I have been to jail for 50 days in 1998 after former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu made me his guest,” recalled Owaisi, adding that no one knew who would go to jail or not.
