Congress leader Sampath Kumar denies extortion charge, alleges false campaign
AICC Secretary and former MLA SA Sampath Kumar refuted allegations of harassment and extortion after Shree Bhramara Infrastructures Private Limited lodged a complaint against his associates in Jogulamba Gadwal district.
Hyderabad: A day after a private company complained of harassment and extortion by his henchmen, AICC Secretary and former MLA SA Sampath Kumar alleged that BRS leaders were running a false campaign against him.
Shree Bhramara Infrastructures Private Limited lodged a complaint against the former Congress MLA from Alampur’s henchmen with the Station House Officer of Kodandapuram police station in Jogulamba Gadwal district.
“One Basha was executing works under a sub contract with Bhramara Company. It owed him Rs13 lakh and accordingly he approached me for help. The company denied Basha the sub contract and roped in another person to execute works,” Sampath said at a press conference here on Tuesday.
“Irked over this, Basha argued with an earthmover driver at the site. The issue escalated and a complaint was lodged with the police,” he said.
“Amidst this development, at the behest of BRS working president KT Rama Rao, false reports are being published that I demanded Rs 8 crore from the company,” Sampath alleged, also accusing the Bhramara Company of committing irregularities. A complaint would be lodged with the National Highways authorities, he said.
