Congress leader with rowdy-sheet held for attacking party mandal president in Hanamkonda

A Congress leader with a rowdy-sheet against him, Mohammed Saddam Hussain, and three associates were arrested for allegedly attacking Velair mandal Congress president Muravath Lakshman Naik.

Hanamkonda: A Congress leader with a police rowdy-sheet against him was arrested along with three others for attacking the party’s Velair mandal committee president in the district.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Dharmasagar CI (Circle Inspector), Anumula Srinivas informed that the prime accused, Mohammed Saddam Hussain, harboured a grudge against the mandal party president, Muravath Lakshman Naik.

Hussain was to be aggrieved because Lakshman Naik had stopped inviting him to party meetings due to a rowdy-sheet (police record of habitual offenders) registered against him. He conspired with three others Anil, Harish and Krupasagar of Velair to murder Lakshman Naik.

On September 17, while Lakshman Naik was returning from Hanamkonda on his motorcycle, Harish and Krupasagar wearing masks and riding a bike, intercepted him on the outskirts between Saipet and Keshavanagar in Dharmasagar mandal.

They attacked him with an iron rod and fled the scene. Acting on a complaint filed by the victim’s son, the Dharmasagar police registered a case, conducted an investigation, arrested the accused and remanded them to judicial custody, the CI said.

The CI Srinivas commended Velair SI (Sub-Inspector) Ajmeera Suresh for effectively investigating the case and apprehending the accused.
