Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao came down heavily on on the Congress and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing the ruling party of repeatedly deceiving the people of Telangana on river water issues and governance. He said the Congress leaders must be hanged to death for decades of injustice meted out to Telangana, while the current Congress government had failed across all sectors.
Speaking ahead of former Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao’s presentation on “River Waters and Congress Betrayals” at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Rama Rao said the Assembly was witnessing a collapse of decorum, blaming Revanth Reddy’s conduct as Leader of the House for lowering standards. He strongly objected to the language used by the Chief Minister against BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, describing it as reckless and disrespectful.
He said Chandrashekhar Rao was a leader who risked his life to achieve Statehood for Telangana and transformed drought-hit regions. Revanth Reddy on the other hand, was speaking with arrogance born of power and a lack of restraint.

“Revanth Reddy is using intemperate language against the BRS chief as he cannot differentiate between basins, irrigation projects and the tribunals. He clearly deserves the title “thumb-sized men” given by the late NT Rama Rao to the Congress leaders,” he added.
Taking sharp exception to references to the Chief Minister calling for hanging Chandrashekhar Rao and Harish Rao, the BRS working president turned thee argument against the Congress.
“If someone has to be punished for betraying Telangana, how many times should the Congress be hanged for cheating Telangana repeatedly?” he asked, going on to point out that Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy, reneged on key promises on job creation, farm loan waivers and 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes.
The BRS working president said Harish Rao’s presentation exposed decades of betrayal and continuing duplicity by the Congress on inter-State river waters. He slammed the Chief Minister for aligning with forces opposed to Telangana’s interests. He said the State was suffering due to the Congress leadership’s political immaturity, incompetence, and corruption.
