Nalgonda: TRS MLC Gutha Sukender Reddy on Thursday said Congress leaders have been making baseless allegations against the State government to divert the attention of the people from the infighting in their party.

Speaking at a media conference in his camp office here, Sukender Reddy said the Congress leaders came to blows at a party membership drive in Miryalaguda in the district.

Though there was no unity among them, the Congress leaders were making hollow statements claiming that the party would come to power in the State in the next elections, he added.

Stating that Congress was non-existent in Telangana, the MLC said the Congress leaders were intentionally leveling baseless allegations against the TRS government just to mark their presence in State politics.

Coming down heavily on Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy for his comments against the State government, he said the MP did not take up with the Centre the issue of procurement of parboiled rice from the State in Yasangi.

Pointing out that Nalgonda district had witnessed significant development in the last six years, he said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had sanctioned RS 1,500 crores for new lift irrigation schemes in erstwhile Nalgonda district.

“The tail-end area of left canal of Nagarjuna Sagar Project and SRSP were not getting irrigation facility in the district. A mega thermal power plant has been taken up at Damacherla with Rs 40,000 crores,” he said, and sought to know from Congress leaders whether they were blind to the development works taken up by the State government in the district.

“Telangana is witnessing development on all fronts due to the initiatives taken by the Chief Minister. The State has also topped the country in implementation of welfare schemes,” he said.

The Congress leaders, Sukender Reddy said, were power hungry with the sole intention of amassing wealth, if their party comes to power.

The Congress lacks political agenda. Congress governments in undivided Andhra Pradesh neglected the welfare of the people, he said, and urged Congress leaders to desist from indulging in mudslinging against the TRS government.

He predicted that BJP would face defeat in the five states going to elections. “People have lost faith on national parties,” he added.
