Hyderabad: Differences are continuing to widen among Congress leaders and the divide is now taking casteist lines. Congress MLC C Naveen has been vocal against the Congress government, particularly in pointing out the way Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s family was securing contracts and looting public money.
Addressing at a meeting organised by the BC organisations recently, the Congress MLC was very critical of the Congress government and alleged domination of Reddy community leaders.
“In the guise of projects, public money is being looted like bandicoots. From where did Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy amass the wealth and how did he secure so many contracts?” he had said, with the videos being shared extensively on social media platforms.
It may be recalled that the Enforcement Directorate had conducted raids at the Revenue Minister’s residence and other places on September 27. However, there was no statement either from the Minister or the central agency over the raids.
The Congress MLC has also been vociferously commenting on the discrimination towards BC community and its leaders. Taking serious view of his comments, the party leadership did not permit him to attend Rahul Gandhi’s state level consultation on caste census held here on Tuesday. Not content with this, a section of leaders have raised objections over the Congress MLCs observations and wanted him to mend his ways.
Congress Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav said the Congress was committed for the welfare and development of the BCs. “Teenmaar Mallanna should bear in mind that he got elected after people from all castes cast their votes in his favour. Making unjustified comments on the Congress party and government will not be tolerated,” Yadav said at a press conference on Wednesday.
TGMDC Chairman Eravathri Anil Kumar said it was absurd that the Congress MLC was commenting against his own party. “Yes, we are also pained that a BC leader did not become a Chief Minister but he can speak against the party only after quitting the party,” he said.
Fisheries Corporation Mettu Sai Kumar also wanted the Congress MLC to mend his ways, failing which the party would take action at an appropriate time.
The Congress MLC’s comments have also not gone well with Reddy community leaders either. Reddy Jagruthi Member Dayakar Reddy warned the Congress MLC not to instigate the BC community against the Reddy community.
“If you continue to speak ill, your tongue will be cut. Everyone is aware of your blackmail tactics. Why are you abusing Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy?” Dayakar Reddy said in a video, which has gone viral on social media platforms.
