HYDERABAD: Issues of caste politics and turncoat MLAs continue to take centre stage in the Congress with Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy insisting that the State leadership consider his service to the party and offer him a Cabinet berth.
The Ibrahimpatnam MLA pointed out that those joining the Congress from other parties were being accorded priority in allotment of posts. All those who have been loyal and worked for the party’s cause all these years were being sidelined, he told media persons here on Saturday.
In the past, there used to be six Ministers from Rangareddy and Greater Hyderabad region in the Cabinet. However, now there was barely one Minister from the region. Rangareddy has got the highest population in the State but unfortunately, injustice was being meted out to leaders from the district, he said.
“If social equations are a hurdle for allotting cabinet berth, I am prepared to resign. For the district’s development and a ministerial berth, I am prepared to get one more person elected from the district,” he said.
Considering the local bodies elections, especially the GHMC elections, the State leadership, should accord priority to Rangareddy leaders, he insisted, also taking strong objection to turncoat leaders being offered posts and positions in the party.
“Considering political equations, those joining the Congress should be welcomed but posts and positions should not be offered. They are being made Ministers and those who worked hard for the party’s victory are being neglected,” Malreddy Ranga Reddy said, adding that this practice would send wrong signals to the people.
