Hyderabad: The Congress, before and after the Assembly elections, had repeatedly accused the previous BRS government of failing to develop the State and questioned its contributions. But now, in sharp contrast to these claims, the Congress government is showcasing different initiatives and achievements under the BRS government to contestants of the Miss World pageant!

Since the last few days, the Miss World contestants have been visiting different places across the State, including the Yadagirigutta temple, the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), the BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat and the Buddhavanam, among others.

The reconstruction of Yadagirigutta – the spiritual capital of the State, in traditional style and with impressive architecture, has given a new identity to Telangana on the temple tourism circuit in the country after former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao took up the renovation project. The Miss World contestants were mesmerised by the attractive sculpture and grandeur of the temple.

They visited Pochampally village, which won the United Nations World Tourism Organisation’s “Best World Tourism Village” award in November 2021 under the BRS government. The Miss World contestants also visited Buddhavanam, which was completed by the previous government.

This was followed by visits to the Integrated Command and Control Centre and Secretariat. At the ICCC, the contestants were briefed about the advanced surveillance system, the real-time policing and urban management and other facilities. At the Secretariat, the contestants were briefed about the administrative nerve centre of the State, besides the architectural significance of the structure.

All these structures were constructed by the previous BRS government. On Sunday, when they visited the Secretariat, a drone show was conducted on the premises. This show was also introduced in the State by the previous government.

Interestingly, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had found fault with the presence of the Charminar and Kakatiya Thoranam in the State emblem, stating that they were representations of past dictatorships. He had also planned to make changes to the emblem.

However, the Miss World contestants were taken to Charminar for a heritage walk. Likewise, they were taken to Rammappa Temple, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list on July 25, 2021.

On Tuesday, the Head to Head challenge of the 72nd Miss World festival kicked off at T-Hub, Hyderabad’s innovation and entrepreneurship hub. This structure was also constructed by the previous government.

Save for PowerPoint presentations on a few welfare and development initiatives which are in progress, the Congress government did not have much to show as its own, even after 18 months in power and has therefore conveniently forgotten what it said about the previous BRS government.
