Suryapet: BRS working president KT Rama Rao held the Congress government solely responsible for the water crisis in the State due to its inefficiency in management of irrigation projects. He said the drying of crops was not due to a natural drought, but one created by the Congress government.
Addressing a massive gathering of the party cadre at Suryapet on Thursday, Rama Rao said despite Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy hailing from erstwhile Nalgonda, he failed to ensure adequate water for the district. He blamed the Congress for not repairing the Medigadda barrage due to its blind hatred for former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and letting water go down the stream to Andhra Pradesh.
He questioned how water was available abundantly under Chandrashekhar Rao’s rule, while farmers are deprived of irrigation water under Congress.
“The Congress leaders argued that Nalgonda is not getting the Kaleshwaram project water, but was receiving only from Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP). Now that they are terming the Kaleshwaram project useless, why they are unable to supply water even from SRSP, but for their neglect and inefficiency?” he asked.
The BRS working president pointed out that while the BRS government utilised 36 per cent of Krishna River water, the Congress had failed to use even 24 per cent. He reiterated that the ruling party lacked the knowledge to manage irrigation, increase groundwater levels or even fill tanks. “Instead of prioritising governance and development, Revanth Reddy is only focused on funneling funds to Delhi to please his bosses,” he said.
He also slammed the failure of the Congress to waive farm loans fully, challenging them to prove their promises. Criticising the Congress for abandoning key projects in Nalgonda, including medical colleges, power plants and administrative offices, he said the government was silencing dissent, as seen in the suspension of former Minister G Jagadish Reddy from the Assembly for exposing Congress failures. He questioned why the Congress spared AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi despite the latter directly warning the Speaker against running the Assembly like Gandhi Bhavan.
He reminded that Revanth Reddy, who operated a slander campaign against Chandrashekhar Rao before the Assembly elections using YouTubers, was now threatening to “strip, thrash and parade’ them in public for questioning his failures and policies.
The former Minister stated that Congress and BJP shared a secret understanding with “Bade Bhai” Narendra Modi and “Chote Bhai” Revanth Reddy conspiring to silence Telangana’s voice. Neither the Congress nor BJP speak about development in Telangana, but spread false narratives against Chandrashekhar Rao, he said, reminding that the BJP did not initiate any action against Revanth Reddy, despite the BRS providing evidence of corruption against him.
Rama Rao asserted that despite BRS losing power, public admiration for Chandrashekhar Rao remained strong. He likened the Congress rule to darkness before light, terming the BRS public meeting at Warangal on April 27 as the first step of the BRS fighting back and rising like a phoenix from the ashes.
He announced that party membership registrations would begin in May, with new committees formed at all levels. “The BRS remains Telangana’s only true voice and its pink flag gives courage to every person in the State. Our fight is not for power, but to protect Telangana’s identity and future,” he declared.
