Hyderabad: BJP’s OBC Morcha national president K. Laxman accused the Congress of spreading false propaganda on the recently passed farmers Bill and creating confusion among the farmers.

The Central government is ready for any debate to allay fears of farmers on the Bill. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other Union Ministers concerned was ready to clear the doubts of farmers. But the Congress leaders were unnecessarily creating confusion among farmers about the Bill.

It was the same Bill that the Congress planned to enact it in the Parliament during its tenure. The NDA government led by Modi brought the same Bill with an aim to help farmers on all fronts. But the Congress, which did not raise any hue and cry in the Parliament before the Bill was passed, was now creating problems and indulging in cheap politics, he alleged.

When his attention was drawn to the Supreme Court’s proposal of setting up an impartial and independent panel with agriculture experts and farmers, Laxman replied that the Central government would always strive for farmers’ welfare.

To another question whether the Centre failed to create more awareness among farmers about the Bill, Laxman denied saying that some elements, which were against the Prime Minister and his policies, were resorting to such protests.

“Why are farmers from other States not organizing similar protests against the Bill?” he questioned. Laxman condemned the attacked on the Osmania University student Suresh Yadav on Wednesday night and demanded that the police take action against those who were behind it.
