Congress suffers setback as 150 leaders join BRS in Jadcherla

In a major political development, around 150 Congress leaders and activists from Jadcherla constituency joined the BRS, marking a setback for the Congress in Mahbubnagar district. BRS working president KT Rama Rao inducted them at Erravelli, while former CM K Chandrashekhar Rao had earlier received their support.

Hyderabad: The Congress party suffered a significant setback in the Jadcherla constituency of the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district with around 150 key leaders and activists joining the BRS on Friday.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao formally inducted them into the party fold by draping the party scarves at Erravelli in Siddipet district.

Earlier, the Congress leaders and activists from Venkateshwara Thanda in Nawabpet mandal from Jadcherla constituency met BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and declared their full support to the party. Former Jadcherla MLA Lakshma Reddy accompanied them.

Babu Naik, who had contested as a Congress candidate in the previous elections, Congress Deputy Sarpanch Thavuriya, and six ward members from Venkateshwara Thanda, were prominent among those who joined the BRS.

The group arrived in two buses led by Venkateshwara Thanda Sarpanch Sevya Naik, former Kollur Sarpanch Raju and local leader Chander Naik. They expressed confidence in the party leadership for development of the State and pledged to work towards strengthening the BRS in Jadcherla.
