Hyderabad: AICC spokesperson Dasoju Sravan demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao immediately convert the 50-bed Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) in Khairatabad into a 100-bed Covid-19 hospital as it has all the facilities to treat corona patients.

Sravan, who is also the Congress party in-charge of Khairatabad Assembly constituency, along with former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav and local leaders visited Khairatabad UPHC on Saturday.

The Chief Minister visited Warangal and announced that he would construct a hospital after demolishing Warangal Central Jail. He had commented in the same way about Osmania General Hospital in the past, he said. “Leave about demolishing existing structures and constructing new hospitals, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao should first make use of the existing health infrastructure facilities to deliver Covid-19 treatment,” said Sravan.

The 50-bed Urban Primary Health Centre at Khairatabad was constructed with an outlay of Rs 10 crore during former Chief Minister M Kiran Kumar Reddy’s regime in 2014. It has advanced health care facilities like ECG and specialists like pulmonologist, radiologist, opthalmologist, ENT specialist, senior physicians, nursing staff and others.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao should immediately make a review of the facilities available in all government hospitals and ensure their optimal utilisation, he said. “TRS government should immediately take stock of the facilities available at Khairatabad UPHC and turn into a 100-bed Covid care centre, as it will provide great relief to the poor and low-income people suffering from Covid in Hyderabad,” demanded Sravan.
