Hyderabad: Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said the Congress was never against the Formula E-race but had raised objections on the way payments were made for organising the event.

Hyderabad would host the Miss World competitions and it was an international programme, he said during an informal chat with media persons on Saturday. Regarding the suspension of BRS MLA G Jagadish Reddy, the Legislative Affairs Minister said ultimately it was Speaker G Prasad Kumar’s decision to expel a member from the House.

“More than the way the BRS MLA spoke, his body language was not right. It was arrogance and that’s the reason Congress MLAs raised objections,” he said.

“The records have been verified. By the end of this session, the Ethics Committee will be constituted,” Sridhar Babu added.
