Sangareddy: Several Congress workers, led by former Mallepally village sarpanch Jagadishwar and his wife Shivaleela from Kondapur mandal, joined the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in the presence of Sangareddy MLA Chintha Prabhakar at a programme held at Gokul Function Hall on Wednesday.
Welcoming the new entrants by handing over party scarves, MLA Prabhakar alleged that the Congress was trying to force BRS workers to switch sides by threatening to file false cases against them. He, however, said that the BRS cadre would not bow to such intimidation.
Accusing the Congress government of failing to fulfil the promises made during the election campaign, Prabhakar said that many Congress workers were now returning to the BRS ahead of the upcoming local body elections.
BRS leaders Kasala Buchi Reddy, Patnam Manikyam, MA Mukheem, Dr Srihari and others were present.
