Hyderabad: The Chandrayangutta police on Saturday arrested a conman who was allegedly cheating people on pretext of making online payments through digital wallet accounts after accepting cash from them.
The arrested man, Abdallah Obaid Katheri (25), a resident of Amannagar, visited the AXIS Bank ATM in Chandrayangutta and approached a man who came to deposit cash.
“On pretext of transferring cash through a digital wallet app, he collected Rs 10,000 from the victim. Abdullah later showed a fake e-transaction receipt to the victim and left the place,” said A Sudhakar, ACP Chandrayangutta. The victim later realized he was duped and approached the police, who registered a case and arrested the suspect.
Abdullah had, in previous instances, cheated four persons using a similar modus operandi.
