Conman tricks two businessmen in Hyderabad; Escapes with gold, US Dollars
According to the police, a person who introduced himself as Stephen called a gold trader Chandrasekhar, of Narsingi and Rafi, who is into foreign currency exchange business over phone and informed that he was to purchase gold and exchange foreign currency.
Hyderabad: A conman managed to trick two businessmen and escaped with half a kilogram of gold and US Dollars from them on Friday.
According to the police, a person who introduced himself as Stephen called a gold trader Chandrasekhar, of Narsingi and Rafi, who is into foreign currency exchange business over phone and informed that he was to purchase gold and exchange foreign currency. He asked both people to come to a hotel at Gachibowli.
“Believing him, Chandrasekhar and Rafi came to the hotel around afternoon. Stephen took them to a room in the hotel. After collecting the gold and foreign currency, the conman told he would return with cash within a few minutes and escaped,” said Gachibowli police.
The two people kept waiting for him in the hotel room. After waiting for a long time, they grew suspicious and enquired with the hotel management. On not getting any proper clues about the whereabouts of Stephen, they then approached the Gachibowli police who after preliminary enquiry booked a case.
