Constable, Home Guard injured as sand mafia truck rams bike in Burgampad
Tension flared at Sompalli sand ramp in Burgampad mandal after villagers opposing illegal sand mining were attacked by ramp operators. A constable and a Home Guard sustained minor injuries when a speeding sand truck hit their two-wheeler while returning from the site.

Kothagudem: Tension prevailed at Sompalli sand ramp in Burgampad mandal in the district on Sunday as those engaged in illegal sand transportation allegedly attacked the locals; injuring one constable and a Home Guard.
According to sources, youths and villagers from BC Colony tried to stop sand trucks at the ramp on Saturday night alleging that illegal sand mining was taking place in violation of regulations. Those associated with the ramp operators attacked them.
The villagers returned to the ramp on Sunday to discuss the matter with sand ramp operators and heated arguments ensued between them while the latter again attacked the villagers.
On receiving information from the villagers, Constable Mangi Lal and Home Guard Srinivas Rao of Burgampad police station arrived at the sand ramp and brought the situation under control.
While the police personnel were returning to the police station, a speeding sand truck rammed into the police two-wheeler from behind at Domalavagu area. The constable and Home Guard sustained minor injuries while the two-wheeler and two mobile tablets were
destroyed in the incident.
Burgampad SI, Meda Prasad informed that Mangilal and Srinivas Rao were shifted to a private hospital in Bhadrachalam for treatment. A case was registered against the truck driver along with the sand reach operators and investigation was taken up into the incident.
