Constable stabbed while trying to nab thief in Khammam
Khammam: An interstate thief stabbed a constable causing severe injuries at Sathupalli in the district.
The incident took place during midnight hours on Monday. The constable Naresh, working at Sathupalli police station, spotted an interstate thief, Tiruveedula Surender of Chatrai village in NTR district in AP moving suspiciously Sathupalli bus stand.
Then the constable tried to catch Surender, who on seeing the constable sped away on a motorbike. Naresh then chased him and stopped him on the outskirts of Sathupalli town, following which Surender attacked Naresh with a knife causing bleeding injuries and fled the spot again.
Naresh was stabbed twice in the head and twice in the arm. The locals who saw the injured constable rushed him to the local government hospital for treatment. The local CI Kiran and SI Raghu visited the spot, booked a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
