Construct four super specialty hospitals in Hyderabad immediately: TS Cabinet

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao directed the officials to speed up construction of four super-speciality hospitals in the city.

Hyderabad: The State Cabinet here on Thursday asked the officials to immediately take up the construction of four super specialty hospitals in the city.

Reviewing the construction of these upcoming hospitals during the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan here, the Cabinet asked authorities to carry out the construction work at a brisk pace.


It instructed the Health department officials to come up with comprehensive plans for the development of health infrastructure in the State by next Cabinet meeting. The Cabinet discussed in detail about the Covid-19 situation in the State and enquired with the Health department officials about the pandemic in other States in India and elsewhere in the world and necessary precautions taken to contain it.

The Chief Minister enquired about pandemic in the neighboring States. The Health department officials explained to the Chief Minister about the situation after re-opening of educational institutions. The officials informed the Cabinet that the Covid was under control since there was no major increase in the cases after reopening of schools and colleges.

All types of medical equipment including testing kits, oxygen and medicines were made available to meet the requirements. As many as 2.56 crore people got Covid vaccines. Of them, 1.45 people got first dose of vaccine while 55.36 lakh people got second dose.

The oxygen generation has been increased to 280 metric tonnes as against 130 metric tonnes earlier. Instructions were issued to increase it to 550 metric tonnes. Officials informed that they were geared up to deal with any situation if children were affected with Covid.

Arrangements have already been made with 5,200 beds for giving treatment to children apart from procuring medicines and providing beds at a cost of Rs.133 crore. Since national vaccination drive commenced from Thursday, the Cabinet has asked the Ministers and other elected representatives to play a key role and make the drive a success and ensure that every day three lakh doses of vaccines were administered.

The Cabinet has instructed the Health, and Roads and Buildings department to make necessary arrangements to the new medical colleges from next year.
