Khammam: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has responded positively to a request made by BRS Rajya Sabha member Vaddiraju Ravichandra for the construction of a road over bridge at railway level crossing number 107 at Ramakrishnapuram in Chintakani mandal of the district.

The MP wrote a letter to the Minister on August 7 highlighting the importance of the RoB at the level crossing in Madhira Assembly constituency. He wrote the letter after several leaders from Ramakrishnapuram recently met him and submitted a memorandum about the difficulties they were facing due to the level crossing.

Ravichandra said that locals have been facing trouble due to frequent and prolonged closure of the level crossing at Ramakrishnapuram, close to Khammam city. Commuters, students and especially patients who need timely medical attention in Khammam were often stranded at the railway gate for hours, leading to serious problems.

Despite repeated appeals from villagers and local representatives, the issue has not been resolved. The construction of the RoB was required to provide a permanent solution to the problem, the MP said while urging the Railway Minister to expedite its sanction.

Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, in a letter to Ravichandra on August 11, stated that the issue of constructing a RoB at the level crossing near Ramakrishnapuram was under consideration by the department and suitable orders were issued to officials to examine the matter.
