Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao called upon the people, officials and elected representatives to put a collective effort to contain the spread of seasonal diseases. During a review meeting with officials and elected representatives over a teleconference held here on Saturday, the Minister observed that it was time to stay alert as the cases of seasonal diseases were on the increase across the State.

Viral fever outbreak

When the Minister sought the statistics of cases reported in the district during the year, the District Medical and Health Officer Dr Manohar said that they have recorded just 14 Dengue cases, but recorded no Chikungunya and Malaria diseases. However, Dr Manohar said that the district has recorded a large number of viral fever cases of late.

Harish Rao suggested the Municipal Chairpersons and Commissioners spread awareness in the urban areas on the care to be taken to stay away from such diseases. The Minister directed the civic bodies to spray indoor residual spraying and fogging to kill the mosquitoes and larvae.

Collector P Venkatrami Reddy instructed the officials to observe the dry day on every Sunday by emptying all the water containers to kill the larvae.

MP Medak Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, MLC Farooq Hussian and others attended the teleconference.
