Contractor booked for locking Mancherial school over unpaid bill
Police booked a contractor and seven others for locking a government school gate in Velganoor, Dandepalli mandal, disrupting academic activities for 300 students. The protest was staged over pending payments for dining hall construction. A case was registered under BNS sections.

Mancherial: A contractor and seven others were booked for allegedly obstructing a public servant from discharging official duties and creating a nuisance at a government school in Velganoor village of Dandepalli mandal on Thursday.
According to police, a case was registered against Gadikoppula Thirupathi, Akkala Ravinder, Nanaveni Harish, Mengani Srinivas, Mengani Mahesh and others under Sections 132 and 292 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on a complaint filed by Utturi Venugopal, the in-charge headmaster of the school.
On Wednesday, Thirupathi and others staged a protest by locking the school’s main gate, alleging that a payment for the construction of a dining hall on the premises had been pending for a long time. Thirupathi also threatened to die by suicide by consuming pesticide.
As a result of the protest, around 300 students and teachers were forced to wait outside the premises, disrupting academic activities for the day.
