Hyderabad: The Kushaiguda police have identified the body of the unidentified man found in Annaram Lake to be that of A Ram Murthy (60), a contractor from KPHB Colony. Police suspect he was murdered and his body thrown in the lake.
Further investigation revealed that Ram Murthy had left his house on May 10 informing he was going to meet one Srikanth, a resident of Kushaiguda. However, he did not return home since then and his mobile phone too was switched off.
Anxious family members searched for him in all possible places, but in vain and after enquiries, approached the Kushaiguda police and lodged a missing complaint.
While the police was searching, the body of an unidentified man was found in the Annaram Lake at Nagaram on Friday. The hands and legs of the victim were tied and there were external injuries on the body.
On receiving information, the Kushaiguda police reached the spot and the body was retrieved with the help of swimmers. The body was identified later.
The victim’s family suspect Srikanth and Srinivas Reddy from Vasavi Nagar in Kushaiguda to be behind the murder. A financial dispute or a land dispute is suspected to have led to the murder, police said.
Efforts are on to trace and nab the suspects.
