Contractor locks Khammam government school over pending bills, targets Congress government
A contractor locked the gate of a government school in Khammam, alleging that the Congress government had failed to clear Rs 11 lakh in pending bills for repair works executed under the Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme, disrupting classes on Monday.
A contractor locked the main gate of a government school in Khammam for pending bills.
Khammam: Exposing the Congress government’s alleged failure in releasing bills; an angry contractor in the district, who apparently tired of making rounds of government offices for the bills due to him, locked a government school.
This happened at Danavaigudem in Khammam urban mandal in Khammam Assembly constituency represented by Agriculture Minister Tummala Naheswara Rao. The area falls under Khammam Municipal Corporation’s 59th division.
According to sources, the contractor, Challa Ayodhya locked the main gate of English medium Mandal Parishad Primary School prior to the school hours started on Monday preventing the students and staff from entering into the school.
It was said that the contractor executed repair works worth Rs 26 lakh at the school under ‘Man Ooru Mana Badi’ programme. An amount of Rs 11 lakh was pending to be paid to him. As a mark of protest against the delay in clearing the bills the school gate was locked, he said.
The contractor along with his family members also staged a protest at the school demanding the government to release his pending bills immediately. As the contractor had locked the school, the students and staff who arrived there were forced to sit in the nearby Anganwadi centre.
