Khammam: The newly elected BJP Telangana state president N. Ramachander Rao should take the responsibility of convincing the Centre on OBC reservations, stated BRS MLC, K Kavitha.
She demanded the Revanth Reddy government conduct the local body elections only after the 42 percent OBC reservation quota is approved. Congress came to power by promising the reservations to OBCs but even after 18 months the quota has not been approved.
She paid a visit to the family of former MLA Madanlal, who died recently, at Wyra in the district on Wednesday. Speaking to the media in Khammam, Kavitha said that a rail roko protest was called on July 17 to put pressure on the Central government regarding the OBC quota, with the support of Telangana Jagruthi, several political parties and people’s organisations.
She appealed to the people of Khammam district to participate in the protest in large numbers supporting the BC reservation movement and to exert pressure on the Centre.
Kavitha lashed out at the Congress leaders for filing illegal cases against BRS party workers in the Wyra constituency. The party leaders should focus on fulfilling the promises made to the people during the elections, rather than filing illegal cases against BRS leaders.
The MLC demanded that the three ministers, Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao in the district should speak on the issue of Polavaram-Banakacharla irrigation projects.
