Hyderabad: Bengal captain Abishek Porel scored a century but Prithvi scalped 5/54 to restrict Bengal to 219 in 62.4 overs and give Hyderabad the Day One honours in the four-day Cooch Behar trophy Elite Group D fourth round match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Monday. At stumps, Hyderabad were 18/0 in 9 overs.
Choosing to bat after winning the toss, Bengal lost openers in span of three balls to be reduced to 27/2. Prithvi dismissed Toufik Uddin as lbw in the 10th over. Abishek added 66 runs for the fourth wicket with Shashank Singh but Hyderabad bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Prithvi got rid of Rahul Chowdhary as lbw for a nought as half of the Bengal side was back in pavilion for 138. However, Abishek stitched another crucial 41 runs for the seventh wicket to take his side past 200 before Prithvi dismissed him in the 58th over.
