Suryapet: West Zone Inspector General of Police (IGP) Stephen Ravindra on Tuesday urged the people to cooperate with the police in implementation of the lockdown. He also instructed the police personnel to follow the safety measures without fail while discharging their duty in the pandemic time.

To instil confidence among policemen who are under home isolation after testing positive for COVID-19, Stephen Ravindra visited their houses in Suryapet town and handed over fruits to them. He also inquired about their health and assured that the department would support them in case of any requirement. He asked them not to lose confidence and recover fast. He suggested that they call higher officials if they needed any assistance. “The State government is committed to the welfare of the policemen,” he added.


Later, he inspected TS-AP State border at Ramapuram crossroad near Kodad and monitored the situation. He also distributed PPE kits and hands sanitizers to the policemen on duty at the State border. He appreciated the police officials and constables for working effectively at the State border under pressure in these pandemic time. Except for emergency vehicles including ambulances, e-pass was mandatory for vehicles to enter the State, he said.

Stephen Ravindra also visited Nalgonda and inspected the implementation of lockdown at Clock Tower Centre, Prakasham Bazar and Old City area. He said people should cooperate with the police in the implementation of lockdown imposed by the State government to control the spread of COVID-19. He asked the people to maintain social distance and wear masks when they come out during the relaxation period.
