Hyderabad: The Director General of Police (DGP), Telangana, Dr. Jitender on Tuesday said that coordinated efforts and round-the-clock monitoring ensured Ganesh festival and Milad–un-Nabi celebrations passed-off peacefully in Telangana State without major incident.
The police had deployed personnel from various units including the trainee sub inspectors and constables for the bandobast. “A total of 1, 36,638 idols were immersed across the State under the watchful eyes of the police. All precautionary measures were taken and the situation was closely monitored throughout the 11 days to ensure peace prevailed,” said the DGP.
He said a round the clock control room was set up at the DGP office at Lakdikapul and senior officials including Additional Director General (law and order) Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat monitored the immersion.
“Around 12,500 trainee sub inspectors and constables were deployed for first-hand experience of the bandobast,” he said. He said the bandobast was planned keeping in mind the Milad un Nabi festival.
Dr. Jitender said 300 processions were taken out in the State in view of Milad un Nabi and no major untoward incident took place.
“Elaborate bandobast arrangements were made in all communally sensitive areas and as a result, there were no untoward incidents in Telangana,” said the official.
On the use of DJ systems during the procession, the DGP said the people should understand the problems arising out of its use. “It is alright if people deploy small music systems. But using DJs also affects the security management during the procession,” he said.
