Hyderabad: A senior police inspector in Nalgonda has become the centre of controversy, and the reason for a dispute between a couple, who had approached him to end another dispute between them. He is now facing an enquiry for allegedly engaging in an extramarital affair and misconduct while attempting to resolve the couple’s dispute over the proceeds from the sale of their house.

The officer was accused of moral turpitude in a complaint lodged with Superintendent of Police Ramesh Chandra Pawar by Mareddy Prasanth Reddy, a mobile shop owner. Prasanth Reddy accused Two Town Circle Inspector Daniel of having an extramarital affair with his wife Shilpa and alleged that under her influence, the police was tormenting him in multiple ways. Prasanth Reddy provided screenshots of WhatsApp messages and video call conversations between his wife and the Inspector as evidence and also alleged that both had conspired to get rid of him. Fearing for his life, Prasanth sought the intervention of the SP.

Prasanth Reddy and Shilpa have been married for 14 years and have two children. They had married against the wishes of their parents but were having frequent arguments, with one such dispute taking them to the police station, and from there to the Inspector. Taking advantage of the couple’s fight, the CI allegedly advised Prasanth to dispose of his properties in his native village and approach him for a divorce from his wife.

Superintendent of Police Ramesh Chandra Pawar has reportedly tasked the local Deputy Superintendent of Police with establishing prima facie evidence and registering a case. The departmental exercise is on, according to sources.
