Hyderabad: A head constable of the Telangana State Special Police was arrested by the Cyberabad police on charges of cheating the public on the pretext of arranging government jobs for them.
Boya Shaik Shavali (42), a head constable with the TSSP and a resident of Gandipet, allegedly collected money from several persons assuring them government jobs through his connections. “To convince the victims, he showed them pictures he took along with senior government officials, public representatives and ministers when he worked as a personal security officer for them,” DCP (Madhapur) Venkateshwarlu said.
Shavali allegedly collected around Rs.1.68 crore from several persons and purchased properties including two houses. He also defrauded a bank for a loan, the DCP said, adding that he was earlier involved in several cheating cases registered in Hyderabad and Cyberabad.
Since the last two years, he was on sick leave and had formed a gang along with his relative and a colleague to identify gullible people and cheat them.
