Kothagudem: The timely intervention of Cherla police saved the life of a tribal woman who was bitten by a snake at Yerrampadu village of Cherla mandal in the district. The woman, Vetti Mase, was bitten by a highly venomous common krait snake on Wednesday night and her condition turned critical as the tribal priests performed their traditional prayer rituals to cure the woman instead of taking her to hospital.
A police party, led by Inspector of Police (CI), Boddu Ashok, engaged in combing operation learnt about the woman’s condition upon visiting the village and rescued the woman. The CI made arrangements for treatment of the woman at a private hospital at Cherla by bearing the expenses from his pocket.
“When we reached the village, the woman was in unconscious condition. The doctors administered her anti-venom injections and fluids. She recovered by evening hours of Thursday after which she was discharged”, the CI, Ashok told Telangana Today. The residents of the village profoundly thanked the police for saving the life of the woman.
