Khammam: Leaders and workers of the Left parties and Congress staged a protest at Khammam railway station against the Central farm laws on Monday.
The workers and leaders of Left parties and Congress planned a rail roko protest demanding repeal of the farm laws but their attempt was foiled by the police, which led to mild tension. Later, the protestors staged a dharna in front of the railway station.
Speaking to the media, CPI leader B Hemantha Rao alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was favouring the corporate forces at the cost of the farming community in the country. The Union government was even resorting to killing those opposing the farm laws.
He demanded the dismissal of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra as his son Ashish Mishra was responsible for the recent Lakhimpur Kheri violence in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP led NDA government was turning a blind eye towards the protests against the farm laws, he alleged.
CPI leader Potu Prasad, CPM leader M Ramesh, CPI ML New Democracy leader G Venkateshwar Rao, Congress leader M Shekhar Goud, Rythu Sangham leader A Ramakotaiah and others took part in the protest.
